The research was organised as a qualitative comparative study. Our main sources of information were social media and interviews with activists and experts in each city. As a secondary data source we used online materials of urban heritage initiatives and activists (podcasts, appearances on radio, television and in blogs, websites, maps and so on) as well as official listings of heritage objects. Also we mapped activists’ places of activities, and objects of interests and analysed them in the context of urban structures and activists’ heritage related values.
